John. Now that you have social proof, lots of students, and great ratings, this is the perfect time to bring the course over to your own website and start your own marketing. You can get a lot of visibility on Facebook for $5 or less per day! And you can start to experiment with raising prices a little and keep all the profit instead of splitting it with Udemy. I like Udemy and I think it’s a great place to start and use a strategy like this when you’re first building your list and credibility as an instructor. Time to branch out on your own!
23. Affiliates – There are many affiliate networks, such as FlexOffers and CJ Affiliate that allow you to promote other people’s products and services. You simply put a link or a banner on your page and then you get a percentage if someone clicks through and buys the product/service. You’ll want to select products that are specifically within your blog’s category.This is an effective way to earn money once you have the traffic coming to your blog.
Giving presentations is another effective way that helps to connect with and expand your audience with the prospect to get more course sales. Simply, come up with an interesting subject (preferably what you do and know best), and use your public speaking skills at local events – seminars, conferences or Meetup groups. But remember, you will need to come up with a speech that inspires and speaks well to your audience.
I want to point out that this post talks about the technicalities, strategies, tools, and recommendations I have for creating an online course and making money blogging. I want to be super duper clear that all of this only works if you’re providing enormous value in the content of your course. I knew that my course on mindset, productivity, time management, goal setting, and habits would sell because I was confident in my ability to deliver. Without this there is no course.

When creating a membership site, always offer different plans and pricing tiers to appeal to your different categories of audience. Access to specific types of content is then dependent on the plan selected by a member. Membership fees can be a one-off payment or a repeat subscription. And you can even sell products on your membership site to boost your income.
This is so different from other product or service-based companies. Imagine if you were a live yoga instructor. Maybe you can fit 20-30 students in your yoga studio. But after that, you’ll need to pay for a bigger room. Or you’ll need to teach more classes. If you taught a yoga class online, you can open it up to any number of students at practically no extra cost or effort.
A short (1 to 2-minute) video that explains who you are and what you do can work along perfectly in your sales page, as this can offer a greater impact. Any type of video ranging from emotional-appeal, news/commentary, testimonial or ‘behind the scenes’ helps to offer a nice preview into your course and explain to people what your school/course is all about.

27. Sponsored/paid posts – Many blogs publish sponsored and paid posts. Sponsored posts are basically just posts about a specific brand, product or service. A company will pay you to publish an article about it. It’s similar with other paid posts as well. Your basically selling the spot for the article on your site. If you decide to take this route, you’ll want to build your traffic before you will get many offers.

The third mistake I made was creating and promoting content during the launch that didn’t directly relate to the course. I published a YouTube video that was about creating a money mindset and sent it to my list during my launch. I shouldn’t have done this because it caused people to have a reason to go somewhere else and look at that content instead of at the course.
If you love to travel and find yourself randomly searching for airfare sales or browsing Lonely Planet, why not carve out a niche for yourself as a private travel agent? My friend, Mark Jackson did just that, making extra money online with his travel consulting side business. Start with word of mouth recommendations from friends who know they can count on you for the cheapest flights, and then move on and create a Facebook or LinkedIn group to invite people who want to stay on top of the latest deals. Eventually you could spin this into a full-time consultancy teaching people how to make their dream trip a reality.
